Our take
Dr. Elsey's Ultra is one of the most popular litters in the US, especially in multi-cat homes. It's clumping clay: when wet it forms firm clumps that lift out whole without crumbling.
It's unscented, which many cats appreciate, since strong smells can make them avoid the box. It controls odor well as long as you scoop daily.
The 40-pound bag is heavy and the clay can release some dust when you pour it; if your cat kicks litter out, a mat helps.
Pros
- Very firm clumps
- Unscented
- Good odor control
- Lasts a long time
Cons
- Heavy bag
- Some dust when pouring
